Earn 20% of what your referrals spend
Write about the US primary law API, send people to it, and take a fifth of everything they spend for their first year. Subscriptions and top-ups both. No cap, no tiers, no volume gates.
- 20%
- of everything they spend on the API
- 12 months
- from the day they sign up
- No cap
- per customer, or in total
How it works
- 1
Apply
Send us your name and where you publish. We reply within two business days. There is no traffic minimum and no fee.
- 2
Share your link
Put it in a post, your docs, a newsletter, or a repo README. Anyone who signs up through it and did not already have an account is yours.
- 3
Get paid monthly
Commission is held until the refund window closes, then paid out. A payout is final once it lands.
Who this is for
The API sells to people who build software, so that is who we are looking for.
A good fit
- Developers and technical writers covering legal data, RAG, or agent tooling
- Legal ops consultants, legal IT firms and MSPs who advise on tooling
- Newsletter and community operators with a legal tech or AI audience
- Anyone maintaining docs, awesome-lists or integration directories
Not eligible
- Lawyers recommending the API to their own clients, unless they make the disclosures their bar requires
- In-house counsel referring their own employer, which is a conflict no commission is worth
- Coupon, deal and cashback sites
- Anyone bidding on our brand terms in paid search
Four rules
Short, because there are only four things that would make us end an account.
- Disclose the link
- Every link needs a visible note next to it that you earn a commission. "Paid link" is enough. The FTC requires this of you, and it is our problem too if you skip it.
- Mark links rel="sponsored"
- On every link pointing at vaquill.ai. It keeps both of us clean with Google, and it costs you nothing.
- Say only what is true
- Use our published material. Do not claim the API returns legal advice, guarantees accuracy, or covers law it does not cover. Coverage is documented and checkable.
- No self-referral
- A share of your own spend is a discount, not acquisition. We detect it and reverse it.
Questions we get asked
- What exactly counts as spend?
- Everything the referred account pays us for the API: the subscription and every pay-as-you-go top-up on top of it. Top-ups are the point. A team that keeps building keeps spending, and you keep earning on all of it for the full twelve months. Spend funded by free trial or promotional credits does not count, because we were not paid for it either.
- Does it only apply to their first payment?
- No. It applies to everything they spend in the window, not just the first month and not just the first invoice.
- When do I get paid, and how?
- Monthly, once your balance clears the minimum. Commission is held through the refund and chargeback window first, so nothing gets clawed back after it reaches you. We will need a tax form before your first payout: a W-9 if you are in the US, a W-8BEN if you are not.
- What happens if my referral refunds or disputes a charge?
- That commission is reversed. This is why we hold payouts through the refund window rather than paying immediately and asking for money back later.
- I am a lawyer. Can I join?
- For writing publicly about the API, yes, and nothing in the ABA Model Rules stops you. Rule 7.2(b) restricts paying for recommendations of a lawyer’s own services, which is a different thing entirely. Two situations do need care: recommending it to your own client triggers conflict-of-interest disclosure duties, and referring your own employer as in-house counsel is a loyalty problem we would rather you avoid. If in doubt, check your state rules.
- Can I run ads?
- Yes, except on our brand terms. Bidding on "Vaquill" sends us traffic that was already ours and charges us for it.
- Is there a cap, or a tier I have to hit?
- Neither. One rate, one window, no volume gates and no ladder to climb. If a referral grows into a large account, you earn on all of it.
Tell us where you publish
